Brian T Cairns PGA Teaching and Coaching Professional Edgewood Country Club / Fox Hills Learning Center [email protected] (248) 320-8510 I was born and raised in Metro Detroit and attended Bishop Foley High School. While is high school, lettered in wrestling and golf for 4 years. An accomplished junior golfer I developed my skills playing at Red Run Golf Club. Earned a scholarship and played 4 years Division II college golf at Barry University in Miami, Florida. After college, worked in Florida and mentored under Mr. Ed Furgol. Soon after returned to Michigan and worked at clubs such as Country Club of Detroit and Dearborn CC and Orchard Lake C.C. In the late 90’s, played full time achieving conditional status on the currently named Web.Com Tour. Teaching Philosophy I address golf from the green back to the teeing ground. The short game and putting are the areas that require the most time, energy, finesse, imagery; thus creating better scoring . Having played at a high level, I have noticed that the best players in the world ALL have a great short game. They always have a way to get the ball in the hole. No matter what level, teaching every player to know they have no limit, accomplished through thorough examination on how to maximize their time, energy and natural talents. The golf course is the only place to learn how to play and get better at the art of golf. My on course coaching allows me to give students real golf situations giving them confidence going forward. Students see how fundamental changes directly impact their ability to score while playing golf. I divide the game into 5 main areas; 1. Driving 2. Iron play 3. Wedge play 4. Mental play 5. Putting Since every topic is so vast, careful attention and detail must be given to the “whole” to become a complete golfer. Once general knowledge of every area is gained, playing the game becomes the focus. When watching the great players on TV, there is one common denominator; they all have their own way to get it done. Students can play better golf through better knowledge of their own game. I have adopted the overall philosophy that adding to a student’s ability, they can achieve success playing better golf faster. On course training is my way of transforming a golfer into a complete player.
